Fuel economy is 30 city/42 highway with a six-speed automatic transmission, and 30 city/41 highway with a six-speed manual. Thats about 30 percent better than the Golfs 2.5-liter gas engine. Volkswagen claims the Golfs range is just short of 600 miles on a tank of diesel.
